The Weekend

SATURDAY
BBK*’s Sports Day

She’s a little terrorist, we even call her Bin BBK*.
She’s got this new thing where she hits and spits at people? What the actual fuck? She needs a new school.
But all terrorist activities aside; she is such a little gem…and has my sister and I in stitches every time we see her. We love how she can’t say her Rs and ends up saying cwying instead of crying, Januwary instead of January, Febwuary instead of February. When she says excuse me she says akskumz me! Too cute. She came in second in the egg and spoon race! She couldn’t have been bothered with the rest, the jumping castle was more her thing. I did the three-legged race and came in last.

I was getting myself all excited but couldn’t get too excited because I did not even have half a ticket to my name :-( It also didn’t help that L* was giving me ‘by the hour’ updates *unimpressed muttering*.
But, whoa…come Thursday, I was walking on air; skipping everywhere…why you’re asking?
Because, becos, cauz, ngoba I’d just scored myself a ticket to the Trey Songz concert!*Girly squeal*

That boy…that boy…*biting my lower lip with lust* where to start?

Girl, you gonna think, girl, you gonna think, you gonna think I invented sex?
Can’t help but wait?
Yo side of the bed?

Those lips?
Those Mus –kles? Those shoulders!
Also noticed that he’s got dimples. Those lips? I know, I know…just delish looking: Crème Brulee au Chocolat.
Now he’s a kissing buddy to have.
Nobody has to know or maybe they do…

Miss T is not the biggest fan. But I swear…she might deny it… I swear she’s now got the hots for him!
P.S.V* and Miss T* I got one line for you: None of these chicks can fuck with my baby!Yuuup!:-)

When he sang “making loves faces” and “the neighbors know my name”…
He took off his t-shirt and threw it into the crowd and was now only wearing a white vest …
He then t-o-r-e off. Yes, he tore it off!* a moment of silence* I was just not coping. He threw it into the crowd and all I could think of was “I wonder what cologne he uses”.

I wanted to take him home and share his name with my neighbours ;-)
Sometimes a girl just needs a man to…rip of his vest and go lion on her!
Got home at 01h30ish and had a restless night’s sleep (lol!).

Yuuup! It sounds like he’s saying iyo!

SUNDAY:

Went back to my aunt’s, chilled a bit and left after 3pm…the plan was to go home and take a late afternoon nap. Instead, I went past Menlyn. BUT I must say it was a fruitful detour, I came across an insane sale at Woolies, the R25 Sale. I got two tops for R50.00 *still smiling*! Left Menlyn and after offloading my groceries I decided to call my friend S* to wish her a happy birthday. She told me that nah she wasn’t mad that I’d missed her  pre-birthday the night before but she would turn certifiable on me and be really pissed if I did not make my way to Melrose and join her at Pigalle*sigh*! The pressure. So I went…got there at about 18h15 and left at about 23h30.

Highlight: Chilling with the mumster!
Red Card: drinking till very late on a Sunday night. SMH!

Do it for the team…

Info:
Planking or the lying down game is an activity consisting of lying face down in an unusual or incongruous location. The hands must touch the sides of the body and having a photograph of the participant taken and posted on the internet is an integral part of the game. Players compete to find the most unusual and original location in which to play. The term planking refers to mimicking a wooden plank.

Why are men such heavy breathers?

Last week I was in the queue at the less than 10 items till at Pick n Pay and behind me was a good-looking guy, well dressed and respectable looking but boy was this man a loud breather. I moved forward, I was thinking "he’s standing too close so let me move forward and see what happens then"… but no, I could still hear him breathe. WTF? How big are his nostrils? I left the store wondering. Then later I was in a meeting at the office and sitting next to another guy, who was also breathing as if he’s struggling to get air in his nostrils whilst simultaneously trying to force it out. I just can’t. Why do you have to hear them breathe?

If I had a man...and he was a car...

The Maserati had me going crazy today, it happened to be in front of me in traffic this morning (I switched off the radio, had to). All I could hear was its sexy guttural growl; it also didn’t help that the owner kept on lightly revving it... It excites me more than Idris Elba ever could. It actually had me thinking that if it was a man, I’d date it for sure. Damn straight.
http://www.photoblog.pl/neverlosehope/97640284/my-love.html

So, if I had a man…he would:
Have a deep, thick, masculine growl like the Maserati *grrr*
Have the body and muscles of a Land Rover Defender – hard and strong
Ride like a Porsche – smooth but athletic
Mount the pavement like a Land Rover Discovery *wink*
Hug the road like an Aston Martin *am I the road or the pavement? Hehehe*
Have the refinement and lineage of the Rolls Royce Phantom
Excite like the Mini Cooper with John Cooper Works
Be powerful like the Bugatti (or the McLaren F1? I’m torn between the two)
Did I mention growl like the Maserati? Abeg.

The Weekend

I had a relaxed and quiet weekend; which is a good thing because next weekend looks like it’s going to be insanely busy.

Friday
Joined A* at Metro for drinks but seeing that the day before was a Thursday and the usual “Thirstday” festivities had taken place the night before I decided to have a banana and chocolate milkshake. Yes, I had a banana and chocolate milkshake at Metro. The lawyers Miss N* and E* were supposed to join us but by the time they finished work, Yummy Mummy A* had to go home to her two men. I was in bed by eight-thirty, twas a rough week.

Saturday:
I did my usual, sitting around and watching TV.  Got out of bed at 1pm, tidied my place up and repacked my wardrobe (my mom’s coming to town next week) Later, debated going to the movies, too lazy to drive.
B* was out and about in Parktown watching the Rugby…thought of joining her but again, the thought of starting the car, reversing, turning left, then left again, then right…just did not appeal to me. I need a driver. So I stayed home and had bowl after bowl of cherry fruitcake with custard *fat sigh*.

Monday, 29 August I need to start running - operation munyula mafura (operation melt the fat) all the way. This winter has positioned itself well-well on my thighs and ass. What I saw in the changing room at Woolies had me nearly calling out to security. Somebody stole my sexy and left behind two hands full of booty. Tjo.

Sunday
Dragged my big booty to church and thereafter went to Woolies to flex some birthday gift card muscle: the plan was to go to the home ware department, as always I did a detour and instead found these lovely babies. Remember my ‘doable now’ lust list (http://abitofflake.blogspot.com/2011/08/day-19-my-lust-list-5-items.html)? Lurvs them! Let the sunshine in.

Later on in the day, I tried to watch The Kings Speech but it broke my heart in the first scene where Colin Firth (The Duke) had to read the letter from his dad (The King) to a stadium full of people with a stadium full of stutter in his mouth. Broke my heart. I’ll try again next week. Decided to re-watch The Holiday – there’s defs something about Jude in a coat and glasses. Jude’s daughters in the movie: freaking adorable.

Random Thoughts: none per se but I did a lot of fantasizing about the perfect kiss. Need to stop reading those M&Bs. I think I need to find myself a kissing buddy.

I Will

Closet Talk

Closet Talk

London/New York/Paris Fashion Week?
This for me is like a computational math question.
I’ll gladly go into negative marking by marking all of them. BUT… if I had to choose:
Paris – haute couture wonderland.
New York – speaks for itself.
London – if not why not?

Heels or Flats?
Both, but I love heels more.
Heels: vamp heels for vampish ‘move out of my way’ days.
Flats: because I just adore ballet pumps.

Diamonds or Pearls?
Both.

What are you wearing now?
I’m in bed – wearing grey leggings and a white slouchy t-shirt with soft pink and grey detailing.

How do you style your hair?
Right now it’s beweaved, with no parting. I need to protect my hair from the crazy winter and August winds. I’ll probably braid it next.

Are you on any store mailing lists?
Not that I know of…can’t remember…need to check my phone?
Actually, yes – Freequency Footwear (Melrose Piazza and Clearwater Stores) – they have a 50% sale on all their winter stock.

Favourite Jewellery Piece?
I’ve got two.
A lovely one strand pearl necklace, a prezzie from my friend A and a pair of pearl and diamond earrings (from an ex) that make me feel so grown up and ultra sophisticated when I wear them.

What was the last thing you bought?
Socks, been wearing boots nearly every day. I swear I had more pairs? No? Turns out I didn’t.

Favourite Fashion Store?
Woolies

Favorite Boutique?
Mari Pippo: I love Nemo, Sale Pepe, Miss Money Money and Gabrielle.

Favorite Accessory Stores
Lulu Belle, Sass Diva and Parfois

New Store Love?
The Secret Room, at Riverside Shopping Centre, in Bryanston. It is a little glam closet tucked in-between a day spa and a hair salon. I spotted some buttery leather jackets and pump my heart heels.

If I was a label which one would I be?
Elie Saab, Christian Dior or Versace?
Actually, a mix of Elie Saab, Christian Dior and Versace *sexy stare*. Which means that the label would probably read: ECV? Then again, I also adore Valentino so probably ECVV?
Elie Saab: this is the princess in me – soft, feminine and uncommon. Whimsy, me, the dreamer.
Vintage Dior: this is the woman I will grow into – classic, elegant and refined.
Versace: this is the daring, bubbly, dramatic and sassy girl I see today.

If I was a model, who would I be?
This is a close tie between Gisele Bundchen and Naomi Campbell.
Noami – seriously now, how old is Naomi to have such a banging body? The temper, we can check that in but not collect it at the baggage claim belt.

Favourite African Designers?
Gavin Rajah, Thula Sindi, David Tlale, Tiffany Amber, Jewel by Lisa
Favourite Perfume?
Poudre by Jovoy

Perfumes I love?
Chanel Chance, Michael Kors, Jadore, Un Bois Vanille

Perfume I’m wearing today?
Kenzo Amour

What colour nail polish do I have on today?
Pastel purple – no more drama.

Style Icon (s)?
Sophia Loren
Carolina Herrera

Day 29: 5 weird things that I like

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=239558406056254&set=a.216255431719885.63942.100000062902596&type=1
This is going to be a bit of a difficult one cause if I like them it automatically means they aren’t weird, right? I thought so too.

  1. Fruitcake: it’s not weird but a lot of people I know, except for my mom and one cousin, absolutely loathe it. This then puts it on the weird pile. I like the cherry fruitcake from Woolies with custard and I also like wedding cake fruitcake, including, wait for it…the marzipan. I’m the girl tracking down the bride and groom when they do their cake walk.
  2. Avocado and cheese on white bread sarmie: I like avocado and cheese (Gouda), on white bread (only white bread it can’t be brown or whole wheat, it doesn’t taste the same). WHITE. Also I don’t want salt on the avocado, I want Aromat. Yes, I’m black like that?  Can you see the light bulb going off at the top of the black-o-meter! One December, I had this sarmie every day for nearly the whole month.
  3. Sliced green apples and peanut butter.
  4. Babies
  5. Sweets (candy) before breakfast: eating sweets or having a biscuit or anything sweet before having my breakfast.

Day 28 - Somewhere you'd like to move to or visit

Hmmm…*deep in thought* somewhere I’d like to move to or visit? Right now, at this moment *tautology*… I’d like to move to and visit the French Riviera for 6 months  (which obviously means, during spring and summer) to attend a French language school: Cap d'Antibes or Nice with all the other towns  right at my doorstep ( Beaulieu-sur-Mer, Saint Jean-Cap-Ferrat, Vence, Eze, Peillon, La Turbie, Cassis, Hyères, Menton, St Tropez, Cannes, Monaco) *dreamy sigh*.
I'm thinking I'll have to stay in Cannes because of this rental apartment (might have to do something about the bedroom and the terrace balustrades though).

Day 27 - A quote you try to live by

A quote I try to live by? I don’t really have a quote but there are a set of questions that my mom says my grandpa taught her to ask herself, that I now ask myself: before (this is the part I need to work on) I say or do something:  Is it true?Is it kind? Is it necessary?

The Weekend

Saturday
PART 1
Kept my promise and went to see SLV* in Pretoria. Found her and her cousin looking very worse for the wear at a restaurant, where they’d been hogging the corner seats for quite a while. SLV looked like she’d been hit by the Gautrain , her cousin had on her sunglasses the whole time and was generally not coping too well and was trying to get the Vodka out of her system by having more alcohol, only SLV*’s boyfriend looked normal – shamz, he must just be strong. I was just drowsy; the only thing I really wanted was a banana and chocolate milkshake, plus frozen yoghurt. The revelers left to go and nap and I stayed and browsed around some of the shops. Left after two hours and went back to join the peeps at SLV*s where I found everyone passed out (this bunch really abused themselves the night before). I woke them up sharp-sharp; I didn’t hit the road to Pretoria to watch people sleeping! Had so much fun though, girlie giggles, men stories and I finally left at 7pm.The funniest thing was SLV*’s cousin showing us a ship’s anchor which she had bought and was going to give to her “friendly boy”, he’s being problematic and she’s having none of it. That ship is not going anywhere without her! Lol! I wonder what transpired after I left; Mr. Cool was on his way over when I left.

Random thought I kept having: I need to find myself a kissing buddy.

The Highlight:
English Toffee flavour frozen yoghurt, although I was coveting my neighbour’s more, SLV* had a mix of English Toffee and Cheesecake. I always get my frozen yoghurt mix wrong. I should have tried the English Toffee and the Amarula, next time. Next time, I’m also taking the Gautrain to Pretoria; I saw it zoom past me on the highway, Lurvs it!

PART 2:
My next stop was SKS*’s birthday celebration at Buddha Ta. It felt like one big reunion – crazy fun with Y*. We spoke about: religion, she told me the story about Lucifer, our love for history and respect for Archeologists (digging up all those treasures for the rest of us to marvel at whilst living in tents) *admirable, but not for us*, my love for Faberge eggs and interest in Russian history, how she’s immersed herself in the royal family’s history since her last trip to London a few weeks back. We spoke about how we need to plan a trip to Egypt, energy and the pyramids, Cleopatra’s bathroom, the tombs, and the richness of Nile River valley. I just want to go already.
The Highlight:
The company and the food.
Those tapas were délicieux . We had the Bangkok Board {Yaki beef strips, chicken brochette, vegetarian spring roll, toasted finger and pita breads, potato skins, jalapeno and sundried tomato slammers, baked pork empanadas, sweet chilli sauce, chimichurri dip and cream cheese dip}. Y* couldn’t have enough of the chicken brochette, even ordered more. I also resurrected my love for white wine; red wine has karate chopped me up too many times this last month.

The Lowlight:
Was when I got accosted by some weirdo, who wasn’t even part of our group? Why? Why did he think he could come over to me? Why? So crazo over here was drrrunk. Kept asking me what my name is and how he’ll never compete with a guy taller than him, even though he (crazo) has more money???WTF – I swear trying to figure out hieroglyphics would be easier to figure out than the s**t spewing out of this losers mouth. I can be really harsh, but I don’t know maybe I’m becoming more tolerant and patient?? So all I did was look the other way and send a telepathic message to Y*(who’d gone to the ladies) to hurry up! THEN he started lean falling onto me. Again, why is this happening to me? I got up said my goodbyes and left. I should have just smacked him between the eyes.

Random thought I kept having: I’m on the wrong continent.

Sunday
Went to church, came back and took a nap, did a bit of work, watched a bit of TV, tried to read a book, failed. Went through my monthly stack of mags instead and watched Black Swan: daaaark, very dark. Watched the first 11 minutes, stopped, watched until just over an hour and then took a Milo break, too much craziness and psycho stuff happening *confused look*, regained my senses and watched it till the end. The last stretch left me shaken and stirred. It’s a good thing I didn’t go to the movies for this one; too damn dark and creepy. Not a Sunday night movie.
