The Weekend

FRIDAY

At 4pm, I stopped working, I packed away my pens, pencils and minimized everything on screen *now you see me, now you don’t* and made my way to the bar. I didn’t feel like a drink so I just sat outside and took in the lovely view and welcomed the weekend.

Left work at about 6 pm and went past B*s to go pick her up, she’d started drinking at work already *she’d just landed a new account, yes “she”, not “we” like she says. Basically, Client likes her and they think she’s doing a sterling job and as a result have decided to expand their relationship with the company. Clink, clink B*! Celebrate good times come on doo-doo-do-do-do-do come on!

We arrived at A*’s house and made thorough fools of ourselves at the gate. We, actually I, pressed the wrong button on the intercom and yelled “Woohoo, open up, open up it’s time to have fun b***tches” we heard a clink and thought yeah, let’s get this party started, A*’s picked up  and will open in a bit… we waited, and we waited…to cut a long story short, we were about to call A* when the gate finally opened *A says she just figured we should be at the gate and went to check and indeed saw us waiting* Huh? That’s when it dawned on us that we’d in fact pressed the nanny’s intercom *sigh*. We had a great impromptu evening: good food, wine, dessert aaand chocolate, what more could a girl ask for?

Had too much fun with little A*’s fun Ipad game – Talking Tom Cat, hilarious stuff. I couldn’t stop laughing *childlike chuckle*. Poor little A*was so over-stimulated we were worried he wouldn’t sleep until after 10pm.
I still can’t' believe A*’s a mom:-)

SATURDAY

I struggled to wake up. Couldn’t, didn’t want to, couldn’t: my body was just not cooperating. I eventually got up at 10h30, had a lemon meringue tartlet for breakfast, picked things off the floor, washed the dishes and headed to the bathroom. Finally got out the house at 12h00, went past B*’s to drop off her phone *she left it in my car the night before* and zoomed off to Melrose to meet my sister and two of her friends for lunch. Had a long lazy lunch at Tasha’s, I had the Harry's Roadhouse Steak with strawberry milkshake (chomp, chomp, chomp). It was such a beautiful day out. I heart summer. Tried to walk the “full feeling” off but got a serious case of niggaritis instead, my sister’s friends started threatening me with, “if you yawn one more time…” Yawn. I was ridiculously tired.

Evening
Watched “Friends with Benefits”, the plan was to watch “The Help” but I was so tired from the afternoon’s Melrose escapade that I didn’t want to watch anything hectic. I missed a few lines here, nodded of here and there, and stared into space there and there; I’m surprised I didn’t completely nod off. I’m going to have to watch this movie again. This movie had me thinking though; could I do the whole friends with benefits thing? Can you divorce the sex from the emotions?  Do you even want to? I don’t think I can do the whole friends with benefits thing; I’d like to think I could but deep down I know I wouldn’t be able to pull it off. I mean, if the guys my friend, it means I already care about him, which means that there are existing emotions even though there may not be romantic, but emotions nonetheless…maybe lying dormant even, which is why I think they shouldn’t be tinkered with. Emotionless sex? I don’t know hey, it sounds so clinical.

Tuesday-a-Streaking

So there I was going about my business – watching TV, trying to stay out of the cupboards etc. Yawn.
Then my phone rang, it was my mom calling in quite a panic: she immediately instructed me to call my sister, cause “something’s happening at her Res and she’s very scared” and my mom’s too far away to be able to do anything notable. I’m thinking sh**t, maybe I should get dressed and call as I get out the door. Damn, call? Get dressed? Run out? Luckily I called my sister before I did the latter; she sounded a bit scared yet I could also hear some nervous sounding giggling... I was thinking, what the hell, am I being punked? She kept saying “I thought something bad was going to happen to us, I thought they were storming our Res”. I’m thinking, who, what, when?
Then, she really started cracking up; I think the shock was wearing off. I, on the other hand, was not laughing; I was sitting patiently on my bed waiting for my sister’s news in 60 seconds bulletin to start, thinking up all sorts of weird and wacky stories that would warrant my mom calling me in such a panic: she found the secret spot Gadaffi has been broadcasting from at her varsity and is being threatened by his female bodyguards? No? Wait, wait…Bin Laden’s brother came knocking at her door? No? She found Tupac in her room reading the YBF on her computer? No? So what…what?!
*Anti-climax*
A group of boys from one of the guy’s Residences Knockando were streaking *sigh, rolling my eyes*. Stupid boys. They were running towards my sister’s Res with the police hot on their tail*blue lights, sirens the works*. The boys, obviously looking like the hooligans they are, were running so fast, darting here and there that my sister thought "this is it, the Rwandan genocide did not end in Rwanda". She was convinced that some serious wahala was about to happen she sent me a text later: “I tho’t it was the youth league, I tho’t I was gona die (Rwandan genocide) x.
*Another Sigh*
Streaking at 9pm… really? Thought that only happened after 11pm. Were they amping the thrill factor? What were they doing? These days I thought streaking only happened at the Rugby and the Cricket? SMH. Clearly not. Sooo high school!
*Totally unrelated*
Took my car in for a service today and got dropped off by a normal driver in the morning…the afternoon was a different story altogether, this 45+, actually probably 50+ man drove like a varsity boy who’d just received his first car AND he had a “happy birthday to you” ringtone. WTF? 50+ with a “happy birthday” ringtone??Wow.
Later,
xoxo

The Weekend

Had a laid-back but fun weekend.

SATURDAY

Didn’t do much, except lie in bed all morning and read. We were supposed to go to the Neighbourhood Goods Market but the weather wasn’t being supportive of our relaxed Saturday out in Braamies. B* was quite eager to go (“story today? Postponed or not?”). But I just couldn’t drag myself out of bed. Plus, it was 12pm by the time she checked in and the market closes at 3pm (leaving us with only 1, 30 minutes to maximize).  So, we’ve postponed our market day to the weekend of the 15th.  A* can’t make next week (Oct, 08) and we promised not to cheat on her :-)

B*, then suggested we meet later to watch DVD’s, munch on popcorn, gorge ourselves on cake and sip on wine. She had me at DVD’s. In view of the jolly time ahead, I trekked over to B*’s house at about 7pm.
We didn’t quite get down to watching the DVD’s but we did yak though our own little “mini-movies”, I like the route B*’s movie is taking ;-), and sipped (more like imbibed) on some nice and frosty Mulderbosch Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé. I haven’t had Rosé in years but I can see this off dry pink delight becoming a regular in my shopping basket.

Once we were thoroughly roasted, we dug through B*’s DVD collection and hauled out Grey’s Anatomy Season 3 episode 25 – Dr Burke’s vows (I am sure, I am steady and I know), which we proceeded to watch and re-watch. Such wine romantics we are :-) At the end of the night (waaay past midnight) we were too sure of ourselves, totally unsteady and we knew it all, hic.
Couch night’s rock.

Whilst at B*’s BLZ* texted: “have been invited to ZAR are you keen?” Apparently there was a Nigerian Independence Day celebration night and I was like uh~? uh? ~uh? Would be nice to go out? But do I really want to? Plus, me no likey ZAR…so I ultimately decided not to go, B*s couch was too comfortable. It also started raining–Noah’s ark kinda stuff– so that helped seal the ‘couch deal’ even further.

SUNDAY

Got my church times mixed up and ended up going back home. I didn’t want to sit around in the parking lot, like a certified heathen, waiting for the next service to start*sigh* - I should keep the notice sheets.
Went to visit my sister, found her friends there as well, chilled for most of the morning listening to their hilarious stories about their day out (Saturday) which took a very interesting but fun turn. Left at about 2:30 pm to join BLZ* for la dolce vita at The Saxon.
