I definitely lust after a private jet but I also love watching people in airports. People going here, there and everywhere, buying this, reading that, parents trying to calm their screaming infants, boy toddlers pulling their toy cars and the girls hug-strangling their dolls, beautiful carryalls, people repacking their bags after the dreaded weigh-in, harassed mothers and uninterested husbands, honeymooners who depend on each other for oxygen, too cool for school types and their latest gadgets, businessmen and women pulling their laptops and making last minute phone calls or sitting in the business lounge looking very indulged and checking their watches every ten minutes. Most of all, the travel fashion – juicy couture wearing miss thangs, blonde bombshells and their vanity cases, Louis Vuitton toting fashionistas, legging wearing practical gals, catwalk model wannabes flying economy in ‘cut the blood supply off’ jeans and skyscraper heels, men in dresses (I kid you not, I was once on a flight to Namibia with a man in a patchwork dress or was it a skirt?), ‘blinging in gold and diamonds’ African mamas (and papas)*my people mehn…sigh*. Trust me, people watching can be quite fun.
