Woman’s Day, Daytime Soapies and Beautiful Wardrobes

Woman’s Day (power to the sista): I was supposed to go to a girls lunch and pamper day at V*’s but she had to cancel.  Thought of going to watch a movie but seeing that it was Woman’s Day the malls would probably be packed, big groups of girls would flood the cinemas, air kisses, hugs and “hey dolls” aplenty, there’d be trolleys and kids everywhere, teens in every corner…ha uh, I just couldn’t. I wonder what Montecasino looked liked… that place! So, since I did not feel like braving the crowds I lazed around, eating Kraft Food’s Milk Bottles and Simba’s creamy cheddar flavour chips. I’m feeling sick just thinking about the creamy cheddar, I’ve had enough for the whole year.
I watched the movie Love and Other Drugs with Jake Glynenhall and Anne Hathaway. I heart Anne but Jake…err my jury is still out on him (maybe his face is not symmetrical??). The movie? It’s like a romantic comedy of sorts – Jake’s brother in the movie had me in stitches –but I wouldn’t have cast Jake as the GUY maybe Mathew McConaughey (okay maybe not Mathew) or even Matt Damon if they wanted a rugged looking guy or what about J Lo’s ex what’s his face *took me more than a minute to remember now that he’s not with Jenny from the block but Jenny from the burbs* Ben Affleck. Jake can act, I’ll give him that, but he doesn’t make you swoon with love and lust. Nice movie though, it reminded me why I need to be grateful, everyday, for the blessing that is my health (Anne had Parkinson’s). I also promised SLV* that I’d go and see her at 2 o’ clock: took a nap at 12 with the plan that I’d be up by 1 o’ clock and in Pretoria by 2o’ clock. Let’s just say she called me at 3 o’ clock none too impressed. I did say I’d confirm at 2 o’ clock though, ok maybe not, didn’t want to make promises. She told me she was done waiting for me and I could kiss her ass, she’s off to Menlyn :-) Well, not quite like that but she did say she was off to Menlyn http://www.menlynpark.co.za/. Anyway, I have pinky promised that I’ll see her this weekend. I’m actually thinking Friday evening, SLV* loves hitting Menlyn on Friday’s, they close at 9pm (one time they even switched off the lights at Woolies and we were still in the store). Damn shopaholic that SLV* :-) You should have seen what she did last Christmas, SMH! Crazy funny.
Oops, I’ve gone off on a tangent again – anyhoo, back to the reason why I was writing this post, what with the lazing around and watching everything on TV… I happen to like the Young and the Restless, just saying, don’t bite or judge me. I like to see what the characters are wearing and some of the wardrobes never disappoint.
Obviously couldn’t stream Tuesday’s episode for you (it’s probably from 5 years back, watev) so I decided to go online and see what I could find.
Snap, they even have an online magazine of sorts.
Lily's, Phyllis’s, Chloe's wardrobe and Ashleys, wardrobes light my fire.

The other soapies, I just can’t watch. How many times are people going to disappear and come back on the Days of Lives? Hell no. That Salem, I just can’t, it’s like a voodoo village. I can’t watch the Bold either but I’ll watch it for the wardrobe, specifically Brooke’s wardrobe. That woman, ha! She cries on tap, gets passed around like the gravy boat at Sunday lunch, a family friend even calls her Brookwe (ibrukhwe is X-hosa for pants) she’s always chasing after the pants. How many times are Stephanie and Eric going to divorce each other and get back together? I mean really, how old are they? Shouldn’t they be reading to each other and drinking gin and tonics on the porch with each other by now?
